Job details
Full job description
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.
We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations — from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities.
Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.
About the Role
Health New Zealand manages billions of dollars of critical assets that support the delivery of healthcare across Aotearoa. As a Data Analyst, you will play an important role in helping ensure these assets are supported by accurate, reliable and meaningful information that enables informed planning and decision-making.
Working within the Infrastructure and Investment Group (IIG), you will support the delivery of a national Asset Management Information System and help establish a consistent approach to asset data management across Health New Zealand. You will collect, cleanse, analyse and validate data from multiple systems, identify gaps and quality issues, and contribute to the development of a trusted national asset dataset.
You will transform complex asset, property and infrastructure data into clear insights, reports and visualisations that support operational, tactical and strategic decision-making. This is an opportunity to influence the future of asset information management within one of New Zealand's largest and most complex organisations.
About the Team/Service/Location
The IIG team are focused on delivering high impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system.
Giving support, oversight and assurance across asset management, asset maintenace projects and programmes, the team understand that compliant, safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.
About you
You are an experienced data professional who enjoys solving complex information challenges and improving the quality and reliability of data. You have strong analytical skills and can confidently work with large, incomplete or evolving datasets to deliver meaningful insights and practical recommendations.
You are comfortable engaging with a wide range of stakeholders and can explain technical information in a way that is easy to understand. You value collaborating with others, building trusted relationships and contributing to projects that have organisation-wide impact.
You bring a structured approach to your work, balancing attention to detail with an understanding of the bigger picture. Most importantly, you are motivated by using data to support better decisions and improve outcomes across a complex national environment.
What You'll Bring
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Data Analytics, Data Science, Information Management, Statistics or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in data analysis, data management, data architecture or similar analytical roles.
- Strong experience collecting, cleansing, validating and analysing data from multiple sources.
- Experience developing and maintaining reports, dashboards and data visualisations.
- An understanding of reporting solutions, integration tools, databases and information systems.
- Experience working with complex, incomplete or evolving datasets.
- Proven ability to deliver quality outcomes within agreed timeframes.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Experience identifying, managing and monitoring risks associated with data and project delivery.
- ServiceNow experience would be advantageous
