Are you a passionate individual who wants to make a difference, promote sustainable development, and find solutions to the biggest global challenges including climate change, overpopulation, and water scarcity? Come and join us in building the infrastructure our planet needs to achieve a sustainable future.
Since establishing a presence in Australia in 2002, ACCIONA has made significant investments in local opportunities and project development. ACCIONA employs more than 3,000 people in its renewable energy, infrastructure, and water projects across Australia & New Zealand.
Job Description
With a strong pipeline of upcoming opportunities and a number of exciting civil infrastructure projects we are targeting, we are seeking a talented Project Engineer to join our pre-contracts team. This role is critical in positioning us for success—working at the front end of the project lifecycle to shape winning strategies, develop smart construction methodologies, and strengthen our competitive edge.
The Opportunity
This role sits within our pre-contracts / estimating team and plays a critical part in securing future work. You will support tendering activities, develop construction methodologies, and contribute to competitive, high-quality bids for major infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Tender Preparation: Assist in the preparation and coordination of tender submissions, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Methodology Development: Develop construction methodologies, staging plans, and sequencing for civil projects.
- Cost Estimation Support: Work alongside estimators to build cost models, including quantities, productivity rates, and resource planning.
- Risk Identification: Identify project risks and contribute to mitigation strategies during the bid phase.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with designers, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain technical inputs and pricing.
- Programming: Support development of preliminary project programmes and timelines using planning tools.
- Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all tender submissions meet client specifications, regulatory requirements, and company standards.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Technical Qualification: Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Construction Experience: 3+ years’ experience in civil infrastructure, ideally within general civils and roads working within NZTA.
- Analytical Ability: Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail in costings and documentation.
- Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical information and collaborate across teams.
- Time Management: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a tender-driven environment.
What we offer
At ACCIONA, you join a team that delivers some of Australia’s most complex civil, rail, water and tunnelling projects. You work on challenging bids that demand innovation, accuracy and collaboration. We support your growth with structured development, access to local and global learning programs and clear career pathways. You also benefit from wellness support, flexible work options, salary packaging and an incentive program for eligible employees. We actively foster an inclusive culture where every voice is valued.
As a company that values diversity as a source of talent, we work to foster an inclusive environment that promotes respect, belonging and engagement so that all people can participate on an equal opportunity basis. We invite everyone to apply regardless of origin, circumstances, background or condition.
Applicants must be a New Zealand Resident/Citizen or hold appropriate work rights to work in New Zealand.
