Deep Energy Limited is a New Zealand-based company focused on energy solutions, electrical systems, solar power projects, and technology-driven infrastructure development. We are expanding our technical team and are looking for a motivated and capable Electronic Engineering Technician to support our engineering, installation, testing, and maintenance operations.
Job Summary
We are seeking an Electronic Engineering Technician to assist with the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic and electrical systems used in energy and technology projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, project managers, suppliers, and contractors to ensure that systems are installed and maintained safely, efficiently, and in accordance with technical specifications.
Key Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Assisting engineers with the design, installation, testing, and commissioning of electronic and electrical systems.
- Inspecting, testing, diagnosing, and repairing electronic equipment, control systems, and related components.
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, wiring diagrams, circuit diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Supporting the installation and maintenance of solar power, battery storage, inverter, monitoring, and control systems.
- Conducting routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electronic and electrical equipment.
- Recording test results, maintenance activities, faults, and repair work accurately.
- Assisting with system upgrades, equipment configuration, and technical troubleshooting.
- Ensuring all work complies with New Zealand safety standards, company procedures, and project requirements.
- Liaising with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to resolve technical issues.
- Supporting project documentation, reporting, and quality control processes.
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A relevant qualification in electronic engineering, electrical engineering, telecommunications, mechatronics, or a related technical field.
- Practical experience with electronic systems, electrical equipment, control panels, circuit testing, or renewable energy systems is preferred.
- Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills and ability to prepare technical records or reports.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- A strong awareness of workplace health and safety requirements.
- A valid driver licence is preferred.
Preferred Skills
Experience in any of the following areas will be an advantage:
- Solar power systems
- Battery energy storage systems
- Inverters and control systems
- Electrical testing equipment
- Monitoring and automation systems
- Telecommunications or network equipment
- Industrial electronic maintenance
