We Are Hiring – Kitchen Hand
Lone Star Dunedin is looking for a hardworking, reliable, and energetic individual to join our kitchen team as a Kitchen Hand.

Position Purpose
As a Kitchen Hand, you will play an important role in supporting the kitchen team and ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently, safely, and to Lone Star's high standards.
You will work closely with the chefs and wider team, assisting with food preparation, cleaning, dishwashing, stock duties, and general kitchen operations. The successful candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, works well under pressure, and is willing to get involved wherever needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist chefs with basic food preparation and other kitchen tasks as directed
- Assist with basic cooking tasks when required and within your level of training
- Wash, clean, sanitise, and store dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen at all times
- Assist with kitchen setup and closing duties
- Support chefs during busy service periods with general kitchen duties
- Assist with stock handling, deliveries, and storage when required
- Ensure rubbish and recycling are managed appropriately
- Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures
- Complete required cleaning and kitchen checklists
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation throughout the shift
- Carry out any other reasonable kitchen duties as required
Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a positive attitude and strong work ethic
- Is reliable, punctual, and responsible
- Can work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Is able to work well under pressure
- Is willing to learn and take direction from senior kitchen team members
- Works well as part of a team
- Has previous hospitality or commercial kitchen experience (preferred but not essential)
- Has a basic understanding of food safety and hygiene (advantageous, but training will be provided)
- Is available to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required
- Is physically capable of carrying out the duties associated with a busy commercial kitchen
