Shopify Lead Developer Job Title: Shopify Lead Developer Reporting to: Head of CRO Employment: Full-time, Permanent Location: Remote (NZ-based) or in our Māpua, Tasman office. Our Pitch To You! We’re on the hunt for a Shopify Lead Developer to be the technical cornerstone of our award-winning agency. As our lead, you’ll be the driving force behind our clients’ e-commerce success, architecting and building world-class Shopify solutions. If you’re a passionate technical leader who thrives on solving complex problems and wants to make a measurable impact, we want to hear from you. This is a senior role for a candidate with a deep, expert-level understanding of the Shopify platform. You will be comfortable acting as a technical consultant to our clients and leading and mentoring another developer on our team. About Us We’re a small team on a big mission: to help e-commerce businesses skyrocket their growth, sustainably. We work with a variety of companies, from Kiwi icons like Wet & Forget and Lion to local legends and even some Aussies in the mix. We’re a passionate, proactive team who really care about our clients; our success is measured by their success and we’re growing fast (hello winners of the Supreme Business Awards 2023). What we offer? Ultimate Flexibility: Choose to work from anywhere in New Zealand or join our core team in the sunny Māpua / Nelson area. We trust you to do your best work, wherever that may be. A Culture of Partnership: Be part of a supportive, collaborative, and no-ego team built on trust, respect, and a shared passion for helping businesses succeed. Make a Real Impact: See the direct results of your work on our clients’ bottom lines. At Keetrax, your expertise matters and your contributions are celebrated. Leadership & Growth: This isn’t just a coding role. You’ll have the opportunity to lead projects, mentor a fellow developer, and grow into a key leader within the agency. Work with Great Brands: You’ll get to work with a range of exciting e-commerce brands, from established names to ambitious up-and-comers. Our Values We Care. About our clients, our work and each other. We’re One Step Ahead. We thrive on being proactive, always learning and spotting the next big trend before it happens. We Find The Positive. We all have off days and make mistakes. It’s how you learn and grow from them that matters. Key Responsibilities & Duties: Lead the technical strategy, architecture, and development for our diverse portfolio of Shopify and Shopify Plus clients. Work together with our other talented developers on other ecommerce platforms, including Neto and Woocommerce. Act as the primary technical consultant in client meetings, translating business goals into robust, scalable, and elegant technical solutions. Write clean, high-quality, and maintainable code, setting the standard for excellence within the agency. Mentor and guide our other talented developers, conducting code reviews and fostering their professional growth. Own and continuously improve our development workflows and processes to increase efficiency and quality. Collaborate with our design, marketing, and strategy teams to deliver cohesive, high-impact e-commerce experiences. Stay at the forefront of the Shopify ecosystem, identifying and implementing new technologies and best practices. Required Skills And Experience A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in web development, with a strong, demonstrable focus on the Shopify platform. Expert-level proficiency in Shopify’s theme architecture, Liquid, JSON templates, and the Shopify 2.0 feature set. Proven experience working with Shopify’s REST and/or GraphQL APIs to build custom apps or complex integrations. Mastery of modern front-end technologies, including semantic HTML5, CSS, and vanilla JavaScript. Strong understanding of web design principles and user experience fundamentals. Demonstrated experience in a client-facing or consultative role, with exceptional communication skills. A natural leadership instinct, with experience or a strong desire to mentor other developers and lead technical projects. A portfolio of Shopify sites that showcases your high standards for code quality, performance, and user experience. Must be a New Zealand citizen, resident, or hold a valid visa with the right to work full-time in New Zealand. Nice To Haves Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks like React or Vue.js. Familiarity with e-commerce marketing platforms like Klaviyo. Experience with large-scale data migrations from other platforms (e.g., Magento, WooCommerce). Interested in Applying? If you’re nodding your head, please email your CV along with a cover letter to jobs@keetrax.com. Please note: To apply for this role, you MUST be a New Zealand citizen, resident, or hold a valid visa with the right to work in New Zealand.
