Description
Senior Software Engineer / Technical Leader
Join Fair Dinkum Builds, part of Stramit (a Fletcher Building Company), and help shape the future of a business-critical software platform that underpins a successful franchise operation across Australia and New Zealand. The platform supports design, engineering, pricing and ordering processes and is central to the success of the business.
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on Senior Software Engineer / Technical Leader to help modernise and evolve a complex software ecosystem. You’ll strengthen technical capability, guide members of a small multi-skilled delivery team through complex system change and help shape the future technical direction of the platform.
Day to day you will:
- Under the Team Lead, act as a key technical leader for core platforms, providing direction on design, implementation and quality.
- Maintain a strong hands-on contribution, including coding (NET/C#, Python, APIs and web applications), technical design, debugging and code reviews.
- Modernise legacy .NET applications and help shape future architecture.
- Partner with product and business stakeholders to deliver practical, scalable solutions.
- Identify opportunities to support wider business initiatives and contribute to long-term direction.
About You
You are a collaborative and adaptable software engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, mentoring others and working across both legacy and modern technologies. You thrive in a hands-on environment, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and enjoy making a meaningful impact within a small, agile team. You may be looking for a more matrix style engagement with activities across delivery, architecture, leadership and tooling. Essential to your success is:
- Proven experience in a Senior Software Engineer or equivalent role in complex production environments.
- Strong hands-on development experience with .NET /C# and ideally some exposure to Python.
- Experience working with and modernising legacy system.
- Solid understanding of software architecture, integration patterns and service-based design.
Desirable to have include:
- Experience in engineering, construction, manufacturing or pricing systems with some exposure to CAD, drawing automation or LISP based tooling.
- Experience transitioning desktop or batch applications into web applications and APIs.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and modern DevOps practices
- Exposure to start-up, scale-up or highly collaborative development environments.
Why join us?
Join a small, agile team where your ideas and expertise will directly influence the future of a business-critical platform. You'll enjoy the autonomy and innovation of working in a small, agile team while benefiting from the scale, stability and career opportunities that come with being part of one of Australasia's largest building products companies. As a member of the Heavy Building Materials Division within Fletcher Building, you will have further opportunities to be part of wider initiatives over time.
In return, we offer ongoing development opportunities, an Employee Education Fund for you and dependents, generous parental leave, an Employee Welfare Fund, wellbeing initiatives, KiwiSaver contributions matched to 4% of your base salary, company discounts and much more.
Our teams thrive on diversity, embracing various nationalities, languages, religions, customs, and lifestyles. Our diversity is one of the things that make us better together. If this role interests you, we encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every requirement
