With a strong presence across New Zealand, we deliver world-class supply chain solutions that keep businesses and communities moving. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to creating safe, efficient and sustainable operations for our customers and communities.
He angitūtanga | The Opportunity
Linfox New Zealand is seeking an experienced Retail Operations Manager to join our Retail transport operations in Auckland.
Working alongside another Retail Operations Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day performance of a busy transport operation, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, efficiently and in line with customer expectations. You’ll provide leadership across our transport team while maintaining a strong focus on safety, service, people capability and operational performance.
We’re looking for a hands-on transport leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment; someone who can lead from the front, build strong relationships with drivers and frontline teams, and use operational insights and KPIs to improve productivity, service and commercial outcomes.
The role will initially operate Tuesday to Saturday, with the potential to alternate between Tuesday-to-Saturday and Sunday-to-Thursday working patterns. We’re therefore looking for someone who can bring flexibility to their working week and support the needs of the operation.

- Lead day-to-day transport operations, including work allocation, driver scheduling and labour planning.
- Drive a proactive safety culture, ensuring operations are delivered safely and in line with relevant compliance requirements.
- Lead, coach and develop transport team members, strengthening capability, accountability and engagement.
- Monitor operational and financial KPIs to improve productivity, service delivery and commercial performance.
- Oversee fleet compliance, maintenance requirements, subcontractor performance and key transport processes.
- Build strong customer relationships, proactively managing operational issues and supporting performance reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement across transport processes, systems and equipment to deliver stronger operational outcomes.
- Ensure transport activities meet customer requirements while supporting efficient fleet utilisation and service delivery.
Ō pūkenga | What You’ll Need to Succeed
This role is ideal for an experienced transport or logistics leader who combines strong operational knowledge with an engaging, practical leadership style. You’ll be comfortable balancing the demands of people, safety, customer service and commercial performance while remaining calm and solutions-focused in a fast-moving environment.
You will bring:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in transport scheduling or coordination, supported by proven people leadership capability.
- Strong knowledge of freight operations, warehousing and customer billing.
- Sound knowledge of relevant transport regulations, load restraint and safe transport practices.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to understand operational performance, costs and KPIs.
- Demonstrated capability in coaching and developing people while building a positive, safety-focused team culture.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a customer-focused approach.
- A resilient and adaptable leadership style, with the ability to remain effective while managing competing priorities in a fast-paced operation.
