Job Description:

Job Purpose

The Checkout Operator is responsible for handling customer transactions

efficiently and providing high-quality customer service at the point of sale,

ensuring a smooth and positive shopping experience.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner.
• Assist customers with purchases, inquiries, and general assistance.
• Handle customer concerns or complaints and refer complex issues to the

supervisor or manager.

Point of Sale (POS) Operations

• Operate cash registers and POS systems accurately.
• Scan goods, process sales transactions, and issue receipts.
• Accept various payment methods including cash, EFTPOS, and credit

cards.

Cash Handling

• Handle cash, provide correct change, and balance the till at the end of

each shift.

• Follow cash handling procedures and security protocols to minimise

discrepancies.

Store Presentation

• Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised checkout area.
• Ensure checkout counters are well stocked with bags and necessary

supplies.

Stock Support

• Assist with restocking shelves and maintaining product displays when

required.

• Help with basic inventory tasks such as checking expiry dates and

product rotation.

Compliance & Health and Safety

• Follow store policies, procedures, and health & safety guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with company standards and legal requirements.

Weekly working hours 30-40

Pay rate $25 to $30 per hour

No work exp or no qualification required
