Full job description

As a proud Kiwi born and bred insurer, we pride ourselves in challenging status quo - and move fast to make things happen. We're here to create beautifully simple, rewarding experiences for our customers and communities, and we're working hard to protect the future of Aotearoa.

At its heart, insurance is about helping people through the unexpected. Doing what's right for our customers - especially in tough times - gives real purpose to our work.

Key responsibilities

  • Analyse and monitor risk, control, incident and issue data, risk profiles, key risk indicators and risk appetite metrics to identify trends, emerging risks and control weaknesses, and provide meaningful insights to Management.
  • Support Executive, Management and Board governance forums by preparing risk reporting, insights and analysis, and developing dashboards and data visualisations that communicate key risk information and support informed decision-making.
  • Support Tower's risk framework and assurance activities by maintaining risk policies and systems, contributing to operational resilience initiatives, performing control assurance and testing activities, and assisting with regulatory reviews, audits and stakeholder engagement.

In your first 6-12 months, success will look like:

  • Delivering high-quality risk reporting, insights and data visualisations that help Executive, Management and Board stakeholders understand key risks, trends and issues and make informed decisions.
  • Establishing yourself as a trusted partner to the business and risk advisors, proactively analysing data to identify emerging risks, highlight opportunities for uplift and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the Enterprise Risk Management System’s (ERMS) data quality, reporting capability and user experience, while supporting the effective use of the ERMS.
  • Supporting the ongoing embedding of Tower's risk management frameworks, policies and standards, identifying opportunities to strengthen risk management practices, improving adherence and driving continuous improvement.
  • Contributing to a strong risk culture and operational resilience by performing assurance activities, control testing, and supporting regulatory reviews, audits and resilience initiatives.

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • A background in risk with at least five years’ experience is preferred.
  • Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, determine root causes and generate actionable insights.
  • The ability to explain risk concepts in plain language and partner with business leaders to help them achieve their goals.
  • Experience developing dashboards, data visualisations and management reporting using Power BI, Excel or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience providing Line 2 assurance, including control testing.
  • Working knowledge of risk management frameworks, governance practices and regulatory requirements within a financial services environment.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, supporting and providing assurance over business continuity frameworks and testing would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of insurance and/or financial services.
  • Practical knowledge of the Protecht ERM platform would be advantageous.
  • A ‘can do’ attitude and confidence to provide constructive challenge.

We invest in you.

We're serious about looking after our people. Along with a competitive salary, we offer a bunch of perks and benefits to support you and celebrate the work you do:

  • 26 weeks of paid parental leave for the primary carer and 4 weeks for partners
  • A paid day off on your birthday
  • 22 days annual leave, plus two extra annual leave days and the option to buy up to eight more
  • Wellness leave
  • Career growth and internal progression opportunities
  • Flexible working and a beautiful, modern office in Auckland
  • Discounts on Tower insurance products
  • Free life insurance
