An IT Support Specialist is responsible for providing technical assistance to users, maintaining computer systems, and ensuring that an organization's IT infrastructure operates efficiently.

IT Support Specialist Job Description

Typical responsibilities include:

Install, configure, and maintain computers, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment.

Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.

Provide technical support to employees in person, by phone, or remotely.

Install and update operating systems and software applications.

Create and manage user accounts, passwords, and access permissions.

Monitor and maintain network and system performance.

Configure email accounts and resolve email-related issues.

Maintain IT inventory and documentation.

Perform regular data backups and support cybersecurity best practices.

Escalate complex technical issues to senior IT staff or vendors when necessary.

Skills and Qualifications

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, networking, and hardware troubleshooting.

Familiarity with Active Directory, TCP/IP, printers, and remote support tools.

Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, or Cisco certifications are often an advantage.
