Full job description

Step aboard two of Queenstown's most iconic vessels, the historic TSS Earnslaw and the Spirit of Queenstown. Become part of an unforgettable guest experience on and around Lake Whakatipu.

As a Host, you'll be at the heart of our operation, creating memorable moments for guests from around the world while working in one of New Zealand's most unique tourism environments. From delivering exceptional food and beverage service to supporting daily vessel operations, no two days are ever the same.

Whether you're welcoming guests onboard, serving in our café/bar and restaurant, assisting with boarding, supporting special events, or helping maintain the presentation of our vessels, you'll play an important role in ensuring every guest leaves with a story to tell. Our team works across both our Queenstown vessels and Walter Peak, with this role mainly based on the TSS Earnslaw and Spirit of Queenstown.

Working on the water brings variety, challenge, and the opportunity to be part of a close-knit team that takes pride in delivering experiences that are truly extraordinary.

  • At least one year of food and beverage experience, including bar and barista skills.
  • A confident host who enjoys engaging with guests and delivering consistently high standards of service.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a close-knit team.
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves and contribute to all aspects of the operation, from guest service and food & beverage delivery to cleaning and vessel presentation.
  • The ability to remain positive, professional, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Maritime experience

What’s in it for you?

  • Enjoy some incredible staff perks! Bring a friend along to experience RealNZ's unforgettable adventures. Explore the Glowworm Caves in Te Anau, cruise Milford and Doubtful Sound, and discover Rakiura. It's an amazing opportunity to experience the best of New Zealand without breaking the bank!
  • Medical insurance cover is included in your remuneration package.
  • Full time hours
  • Work for a business who loves what we do and makes a difference

Additional Details:

  • Location: Queenstown
  • Number of positions: 1
  • Employment Type: Permanent, Full time.

Working for Real could mean you're based anywhere between a secluded island, a scenic fiord, and a snow-capped maunga. Our people, places, and workdays are a great and diverse mixture. It keeps us on our toes and adds value and passion to our work.

At RealNZ, we're committed to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Guided by our values of Pono (Keep it real) and He waka eke noa (We're all in this together), we embrace and celebrate the unique perspectives and experiences that make our team stronger. Everyone is welcome here.
