About the Role

  • Permanent full-time position
  • Minimum of 30 hours per week

This is a hands-on, staff and guest-facing leadership role. You will lead by example and be responsible for ensuring the smooth and successful day-to-day operation of the venue.

  • Comply with the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and amendments, Smoke Free Environments Amendment Act 2003 and the Gambling Act 2003
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the premises liquor and gaming licence/s
  • Ensure all staff are aware of their obligations pursuant to the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and the company’s liquor licence is not jeopardised—this includes patron conduct and intoxication
  • Assume responsibility for the liquor inventory control and purchasing, ensuring no “stock outs” occur, integrity is maintained in the stock control system, weekly assessments are completed, variances are reported and remedial action is taken
  • Ensure the Restaurant and Bar area kept clean and tidy at all times and in accordance to specified standards
  • Ensure all equipment is kept clean and tidy and in good working condition
  • Update daily records
  • Ensure all funds and proceeds belonging to the business are accounted and secured
  • Ensure the security alarm is activated and functioning before closing
  • Ensure the premises is a safe environment for all patrons and staff, and complies with OSH requirements at all times
  • Maintain and complete the premises incident record book
  • Participate as a constructive member of the management team with the view to maximising business sales volumes and profitability
  • Look for opportunities to improve procedures, and make improvements where appropriate
  • Ensure staff are aware of specials, new wine lists and menu items and out of stock food and wine

About You

  • At least 2 years’ management experience in hospitality in a similar style venue or relevant hospitality qualification
  • Excellent communication and guest service skills
  • Strong food and beverage knowledge, wines, beverages and produce
  • Confident operating in a high-pressure environment
  • Punctual, reliable, energetic and hard-working
  • LCQ is required before starting work

All candidates must have the legal right to work in New Zealand and be currently based in NZ. Expected work hours 30 to 45 in a week.
