Head Coach
Position Description

Background:

Boulder Co. Hamilton is a large commercial indoor bouldering facility, fitness gym and
cafe/bar located in Terapa, Hamilton

Boulder Co. provides a fun and safe environment to experience world class climbing and to
socialise with an active local and international community.

The Head Coach, in collaboration with the Manager, are responsible for leading the
Coaching side of Boulder Co Hamilton offering high quality Group classes and 1 on 1
personalised coaching.

• The Head Coach role is offered as a part-time position operating between the hours

of 9am-10pm Monday-Sunday as needed.

• The position is located at Boulder Co. Hamilton, 15 Maxwell Place, Te Rapa,

Hamilton.

• This position reports to the Operations Manager

Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities for the role will include, but not be restricted to:

• Working as part of a team to design, manage and conduct high-quality, safe

Coaching programs for their respective group classes and 1 on 1 coaching.

• Coming up with new ideas for coaching programmes, trialing and implementing them

with the managers and managing directors approval.

• Upskilling existing Boulder Co. coaches to ensure the highest quality service to the

class participants and 1 on 1 clients.

• Contributing to a positive workplace culture by supporting other members of staff in

their daily operations.

• Developing and maintaining relationships and goodwill with customers, suppliers and

stakeholders.

• Taking charge of administrative work that comes with organising and scheduling

classes, coaches & clients through our CMS system (Gymmaster)

• Ensuring the ongoing profitability of the Coaching department of Boulder Co.

Auckland, this includes regular check-ups on the profitability of the classes and
programmes (group and individual) offered.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Passion for the industry - Ideal applicants will be keen members of the global

climbing community and have a passion for the sport of bouldering and the growth of
the industry.

• Coaching experience - Proven experience Coaching to a high and safe standard.
  

• Safety adherence - Experience of working under a safety management system

which takes all practicable steps to avoid injury to customers, staff and public.
Capable of recognising and neutralizing hazards in a climbing and fitness
environment.

• Team player - Excel at working collaboratively with others and actioning team goals.
  

• Exceptional interpersonal skills – Provide positive, and industry leading interaction

with customers, staff and vendors.

• Current first aid certificate - Able to deal with incidents and emergencies in an

educated and professional manner.

• NZ Resident or Work Visa Holder.
  

Remuneration:
$29 Hourly for Administrative and Coaching hours
