Job Description
Gain real-world internship experience with a highly successful designer and manufacturer of computer-controlled fruit & vegetable sorting technology exported globally.
We are looking for passionate and driven 2 Engineering Interns studying Data Science, AI, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or related engineering discipline to join our Research & Development teams to enhance and extend our existing MLOps platform, helping improve the way machine learning models are developed.
You'll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced data scientists, software engineers, and computer vision engineers to help improve how data is analyzed and how machine learning models and computer vision solutions are developed, deployed, and monitored in production, contributing to the detection of fruit defects and the advancement of cutting-edge AI technologies.
Here's a sneak peek into what you could be doing:
- Developing and improving components of our MLOps pipeline and internal defect detection and labeling tools
- Using Python and other tools to automate workflows, process data, and support machine learning development
- Processing, analyzing, and accurately annotating large-scale sensor, image, and machine data
- Working with machine vision systems for object detection, classification, and quality assessment
- Working with multispectral imaging and advanced sensing technologies
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across software engineering, AI, data science, and engineering
This internship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience with machine vision, industrial sensing technologies, machine learning, and AI-driven automation while contributing to real-world product development projects. We're looking for curious and analytical problem solvers who are passionate about building solutions that combine software, machine learning, and hardware systems.

Qualifications
You could be a great fit if you are currently studying Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, AI, or a related discipline and have an interest in machine learning, computer vision, data analysis, and developing real-world solutions that combine software, AI, and hardware systems.

- Be available to participate in our full-time, 10-week internship programme running between November 2026 and February 2027
- Be able to work onsite five days per week from our R&D facility in Auckland, NZ
- Submit your application by 16 August 2026
- Attach your academic transcript with your application
- Be prepared to provide two academic or professional references if shortlisted
