Position

Business Analyst - Blenheim, Marlborough

The Cloudy Bay story is one of adventure. After a single sip in 1983, David Hohnen was captivated by Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. In 1985 David and winemaker Kevin Judd launched Cloudy Bay with a vision for making New Zealand wines of uncompromising quality. It’s been that way ever since.

Cloudy Bay Winery not only captures the essence of Marlborough but also embodies New Zealand’s unique luxury: the luxury of space and time, intimate moments and nature’s rarest qualities. At Cloudy Bay, we are passionate about creating extraordinary wines that express our place, our heritage and our passion.

Job responsibilities

Based in Blenheim, we are seeking a Business Analyst to support the Finance Director with financial analysis, forecasting, reporting and business performance insights. This role will help coordinate forecast processes, prepare and review financial reports, analyse performance against budget and forecast, and support month-end activities. Your day-to-day will include:

  • Liaising with the Finance team and wider stakeholders to gather information and meet key deadlines.
  • Preparing reporting packs during forecast periods.
  • Consolidating, reviewing, uploading and checking forecast figures in Topaz and Syrus.
  • Forecasting contributive cash flow in collaboration with the Finance team.
  • Preparing and reviewing financial reports after each forecast, including volume analysis, sales, standard costing and profit analysis.
  • Updating and circulating validated figures at the end of each forecast phase.
  • Ensuring a timely and accurate month end process, in close collaboration with the accounting team.
  • Preparing GL postings relating to A&P and overhead expenses as part of the month-end closing process.
  • Acting as the key point of contact for queries relating to analytical coding of expenses.

Profile

Ideally, you will have

  • Three to five years’ experience in a business or operations analysis role, ideally within manufacturing, consumer goods or retail.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Commerce, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field.
  • Experience in a global, publicly listed company, or a similarly complex business environment.
  • Experience in reporting, business analysis and accounting.
  • The ability to analyse costs against budget and forecast, identify variances and explain key drivers.
  • Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise effectively and make sound decisions.
  • Mature judgement and strong business acumen.
  • Integrity, trustworthiness and a proactive approach.
  • The ability to manage conflict, pressure and challenging situations professionally.
  • Excellent spoken and written English.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency across Microsoft Office programs.
