Pinush Limited, trading as Guerilla Espresso, is a coffee-focused espresso bar located in the heart of Auckland CBD. We take pride in serving quality coffee, freshly prepared beverages and light café food while providing friendly and welcoming service to our customers.

We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Barista to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for making great coffee, excellent customer service skills and the ability to work efficiently in a busy café environment while maintaining consistent quality and service standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare, serve and sell a variety of espresso-based coffees, including flat whites, lattes, cappuccinos, long blacks, mochas and other specialty coffee beverages.
• Select suitable coffee beans, measure the required quantities, operate coffee grinders and adjust grind settings to achieve consistent coffee quality.
• Operate commercial espresso machines and other coffee-making equipment, ensuring correct extraction, temperature and presentation of beverages.
• Steam and texture dairy and alternative milk to prepare different coffee varieties according to customer preferences.
• Prepare and serve other hot and cold beverages, including teas, hot chocolates and iced drinks available on the café menu.
• Welcome customers, take beverage orders, explain available coffee options and recommend suitable products based on their preferences.
• Promote the café's coffee selections, beverage specials and other available products to customers.
• Process customer purchases accurately using the POS system, including handling cash, EFTPOS and other electronic payments.
• Display, promote and sell available light snacks, cabinet food, baked goods and other ready-to-serve café items.
• Regularly clean and maintain espresso machines, coffee grinders, steam wands and other beverage preparation equipment to ensure proper functioning.
• Keep the coffee preparation station, service counter and surrounding work areas clean, sanitised and organised throughout daily operations.
• Wash and sanitise cups, glasses, milk jugs and other utensils used during beverage preparation and service, ensuring they are ready for reuse.
• Monitor and replenish coffee beans, milk, syrups, drinking chocolate and other beverage ingredients to maintain sufficient supplies during service.
• Restock takeaway cups, lids, napkins and other consumables, and ensure display shelves and beverage refrigerators remain appropriately stocked.
• Check the freshness and quality of ingredients, rotate supplies where necessary and follow appropriate food safety and hygiene practices.
• Assist with setting up the coffee station before opening and completing equipment cleaning, restocking and other closing procedures at the end of service.
• Coordinate customer orders efficiently during busy trading periods while maintaining consistent coffee quality and friendly customer service.

Skills and Experience Required

• At least one year of relevant industry or Barista experience is strongly preferred.
• Must be skilled in preparing quality coffee and operating commercial espresso machines.
• Ability to work quickly and efficiently while maintaining consistent coffee quality during busy periods.
• Must be punctual, reliable and have good customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be available for early morning starts and rostered shifts as required.
