About Us

Gelato2U is a popular gelato and ice cream shop in Napier, serving local customers and visitors to the Hawke’s Bay region.

We are looking for a friendly, reliable and hardworking Gelato Shop Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with customers and can work confidently in a busy environment.

Our busiest periods are weekends, public holidays and the summer season, so flexibility during these times is important.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and serve customers in a friendly and efficient manner.
  • Scoop and serve gelato while maintaining good product presentation.
  • Take customer orders accurately.
  • Prepare milkshakes, waffles, affogatos and other menu items.
  • Operate the POS/EFTPOS system and process customer payments.
  • Refill the gelato display and restock packaging and other supplies when required.
  • Keep the shop, service areas and equipment clean and organised.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace procedures.
  • Assist with opening and closing duties when required.
  • Complete tasks assigned by the Retail Supervisor or Manager.
  • Work effectively with other team members during busy periods.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is friendly and confident when dealing with customers.
  • Is reliable and punctual.
  • Can work efficiently in a busy customer service environment.
  • Is willing to learn and follow instructions.
  • Can work well as part of a team.
  • Is able to complete assigned tasks independently when required.
  • Is available to work weekends and public holidays.
  • Is available for some evening shifts during the busy summer season.
  • Has the legal right to work in New Zealand.

Previous experience in hospitality, food service, retail or customer service is preferred, but not essential. Full training will be provided for the right person.

Hours

Approximately 15 hours per week.
