Seeking experienced Cafe Cook for busy café. Applicants must hold Level 4 qualification or have minimum 2 years relevant experience.

Location: Auckland, New Zealand
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week - Maximum working hours 45
Pay Rate: $24.00 – $32.00 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Cafe Cook to join our busy café team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of café-style meals, maintaining food quality standards, and ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and cabinet food items.
  • Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard and presented attractively.
  • Monitor food quality, portion control, and stock levels.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment.
  • Follow food safety and health & safety requirements.
  • Assist with menu planning and daily kitchen operations.

Skills and Experience Required

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Hold a New Zealand Level 4 qualification (or equivalent overseas qualification) in Cookery, Culinary Arts, or a related field; OR
  • Have at least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook, Cafe Cook, or similar role.

In addition, applicants should:

  • Have good knowledge of food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have excellent time management and teamwork skills.
  • Be available to work weekends and public holidays.
