Full job description

Dreams Foods Limited is a quality hospitality business operating café and brunch services during the morning and afternoon, together with restaurant operations during the evening. The business is seeking a skilled Cafe Manager to oversee and manage the cafe and brunch operations during the daytime at our new business located at Highland Park, Auckland.

The Cafe Manager will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the daytime business, maintaining high customer service and food quality standards, managing staff performance, controlling costs, and supporting the overall profitability and growth of the cafe operations. The role will work alongside a Restaurant Manager, who will be overseeing the evening restaurant operations.

Key Duties:

  • Manage the morning and afternoon cafe and brunch operations, ensuring efficient workflow and consistently high customer service standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs for customer service, food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety.
  • Work closely with the kitchen team to review and improve menu options based on customer preferences, seasonal ingredients, and cost considerations.
  • Prepare and oversee budgets, monitor financial results, and implement cost-control measures to support profitability.
  • Analyse sales figures, customer feedback, and KPIs to identify opportunities for improvement and business growth.
  • Monitor inventory levels, forecast requirements, place orders, and maintain effective supplier relationships.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and negotiate prices and terms to achieve reliable supply and value for money.
  • Manage recruitment, staff induction, and training to build a capable team and maintain required standards.
  • Prepare and maintain staff rosters to ensure adequate shift coverage while controlling labour costs.
  • Supervise front-of-house and kitchen staff, providing guidance and promoting a positive, customer-focused work environment.
  • Carry out staff performance reviews, manage disciplinary matters where required, and encourage ongoing staff development.
  • Oversee cash management, including daily cash reconciliation, banking, and financial reporting.
  • Ensure all opening and closing duties are completed properly, including security procedures and end-of-day reports.
  • Coordinate promotions, seasonal menu items, and special events with the kitchen team and business owners.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable food safety, health and safety, and employment requirements, including preparation for inspections and audits.
  • Monitor food quality standards covering storage, preparation, portion sizes, and presentation.
  • Respond to customer enquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and take appropriate steps to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Resolve operational matters and staff concerns promptly, referring complex issues to management when necessary.
  • Enforce company policies and maintain a professional, organised, and inclusive workplace.

Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and you will be paid between $30 to $35 per hour.

Other Requirements:

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant work experience or Minimum relevant Level 5 qualification.
  • Willingness to work weekends as required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Good organisational and coordination skills.
  • Ability to lead and supervise staff effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
