Location: Rotorua, New Zealand
Position: Barista / Coffee Maker

We are looking for a skilled and passionate Barista to join our restaurant team. The ideal candidate will have good experience in coffee making and be confident working independently in a busy restaurant environment.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality coffee and other beverages while providing friendly and professional service to our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare high-quality espresso coffee, including flat whites, lattes, cappuccinos, long blacks, Americanos, mochas and other specialty coffees
  • Operate and maintain a commercial espresso machine and coffee grinder
  • Adjust coffee grind, dose and extraction to maintain consistent coffee quality
  • Steam and texture milk correctly and create basic latte art
  • Prepare other hot and cold beverages
  • Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic coffee station
  • Follow food safety and health & safety standards
  • Take customer orders and provide excellent customer service
  • Manage coffee orders efficiently during busy periods
  • Restock coffee, milk, cups and other supplies when required
  • Clean and maintain coffee equipment at the end of each shift
  • Work effectively with kitchen, bar and front-of-house staff

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous barista experience in a café, restaurant or busy hospitality environment
  • Strong knowledge of coffee preparation and espresso
  • Ability to dial in coffee and maintain consistent quality
  • Good milk-steaming and latte-art skills
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work quickly and calmly during busy periods
  • Reliable, punctual and well presented
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings
