About Us

Pax & Harry Cafe is a vibrant café located in the heart of Newmarket, Auckland. We pride ourselves on crafting high-quality, consistently balanced coffee and delivering exceptional customer service in a warm, welcoming environment.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Barista to join our dedicated team on a full-time, permanent basis. You will play a key role in delivering outstanding beverages, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring our customers have a positive experience every visit.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve high-quality espresso beverages, teas, and specialty drinks consistently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dial in grinders, monitor extraction quality, and properly operate commercial espresso equipment.
  • Maintain clean, hygienic work areas and complete daily cleaning and maintenance routines for coffee equipment.
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, process cash/card transactions, and manage orders efficiently.
  • Provide friendly, attentive customer service and handle customer inquiries professionally.
  • Multitask efficiently during peak rush periods while upholding strict health, safety, and hygiene standards.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience Required

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year proven hands-on experience as a Barista in a fast-paced café environment.
  • Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of coffee preparation, milk texturing, and espresso equipment operation.
  • Communication: Clear verbal communication skills and excellent customer service orientation.
  • Work Ethic: Strong reliability, punctuality, and ability to work efficiently under pressure.
  • Eligibility: Must currently reside in New Zealand with valid legal work rights (NZ Citizen, NZ Resident, or valid NZ Work Visa).
