Full job description
The Bakery Queenstown
The Bakery Queenstown is a busy artisan bakery renowned for producing fresh pies, pastries, muffins, croissants, slices, and other baked goods every day. We are looking for a reliable and passionate Baker to join our friendly team.
Position
- Permanent, Full-Time
- Guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week (typically 37–45 hours)
- Early morning starts, including weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis
- Hourly Rate: NZ$27.00–NZ$30.00, depending on skills and experience
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pies, pastries, muffins, croissants, slices, and other baked products.
- Prepare doughs, batters, pastry, and fillings according to recipes and quality standards.
- Monitor proofing, baking times, temperatures, and product quality.
- Decorate and finish bakery products where required.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic work environment.
- Follow all Food Control Plan and food safety procedures.
- Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
- Work closely with the bakery team to meet daily production schedules.
Skills & Experience
The successful applicant will have:
- At least 2 years' commercial baking experience in a bakery, café, or similar food production environment, or a relevant baking qualification (Level 4 or equivalent).
- Experience preparing and baking a range of bakery products.
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
