Our Columbus Café at Mitre 10 Wellington Central is looking for Casual Front of House Team Members to join the team. If you’re friendly, reliable and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we’d love to hear from you.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, has a passion for great coffee and food, and takes pride in creating a welcoming and enjoyable café experience. In this role, you’ll help deliver excellent service, maintain high standards, and support the daily operations of the café.

About the Role:

As Front of House, you’ll play a key role in creating a positive experience for our customers, with accountability for:

• Providing outstanding customer service and creating a welcoming café experience.
• Preparing and serving coffee, beverages, and cabinet food.
  
• Operating the point-of-sale system and handling customer transactions.
  
• Maintaining cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the café, including food preparation areas, equipment, and dining spaces.
  
• Assisting with food preparation, stock replenishment, and keeping the café well stocked.
  
• Supporting the team during busy service periods.
• Working collaboratively with other departments and providing café support for store events and promotions when required.
  
• Following all food safety, health & safety, and hygiene procedures.
  
• Completing required training and continually developing your skills.

About You:

• Barista experience is essential; café or hospitality experience preferred.
  
• Friendly, positive attitude with excellent communication skills.
  
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  
• A team player who is willing to help wherever needed.
  
• Passion for delivering a great customer experience.
  
• Reliable, punctual and committed to high standards.
  
• A willingness to learn new skills and take on different tasks.
  
• A strong commitment to food safety, health & safety, and café standards.
• Available to pick up casual shifts, including weekends and during busy trading periods.

We’re looking for casual availability, with shifts across weekdays and weekends to suit business needs. Hours will vary and may include early starts.

The successful candidate must hold Full NZ working rights.
