Mezbaan Restaurant is a newly opened authentic dining destination in Auckland, specialising in traditional Pakistani and Indian cuisine. We are looking for skilled and passionate Chefs/Cooks to join our team and help us deliver high-quality dishes that celebrate the rich culinary traditions of the subcontinent.

Role Description: As a Chef/Cook at Mezbaan Restaurant, you will be responsible for:

  • Preparing, seasoning, and cooking authentic Pakistani and Indian dishes such as desserts, curries, kebabs, biryanis, tandoori breads / plain and stuffed naans and grilled / BBQ items
  • Creating sauces, gravies, and marinades using traditional spice blends to maintain authentic taste.
  • Planning and organising the daily kitchen workflow, including food preparation, cooking, and timely service.
  • Ensuring consistency in flavour, texture, and presentation for every dish served.
  • Monitoring inventory levels of ingredients and assisting with ordering supplies to avoid shortages.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and ensuring compliance with New Zealand food hygiene and health & safety standards.
  • Training and mentoring junior kitchen staff when required.
  • Assisting in developing seasonal menus and introducing innovative dishes while preserving traditional authenticity.
  • Collaborating with restaurant management to maintain cost control and minimise food wastage.
  • Ensuring smooth coordination with front-of-house staff to guarantee customer satisfaction.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Chef or Cook in Indian/Pakistani cuisine.
  • Strong knowledge of traditional cooking methods, spices, and recipes.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management, teamwork, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to food hygiene, cleanliness, and safety standards.
