Position: Chef

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, maintaining excellent food standards, and contributing to a positive and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and present a wide variety of meals to a high standard.
  • Plan and organise daily food preparation and kitchen operations.
  • Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and portion control.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food supplies and kitchen inventory.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen organisation.
  • Ensure compliance with all New Zealand food safety, health, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Minimise food waste and use ingredients efficiently.
  • Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.
  • Assist with menu planning and the development of new dishes.
  • Train and support junior kitchen staff where required.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is used safely and report any maintenance issues promptly.

Skills and Experience

  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience as a Chef, or a relevant qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
