Area Manager – Courier Delivery Operations

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Hours: Minimum 30 hours per week (Monday to Saturday, as required)

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Area Manager to oversee our regional courier operations and ensure the highest standards of service, safety, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Managing the day-to-day courier delivery operations across the assigned region.
  • Leading, supervising, and supporting depot supervisors, dispatch coordinators, and courier drivers.
  • Planning and monitoring delivery routes to maximise operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, health and safety legislation, and transport regulations.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), delivery targets, and service quality standards.
  • Managing staffing requirements, including recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Preparing operational reports, budgets, and forecasts for senior management.
  • Investigating customer complaints and implementing corrective actions.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Ensuring vehicles, equipment, and facilities are maintained to operational standards.
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure smooth logistics and distribution processes.

Skills and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • A relevant Bachelor's qualification in Business Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related field; or
  • At least two years or more experience in courier, logistics, freight, transport, or distribution operations.
  • Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and logistics management software.
