In this role, you will both lead and work alongside a team of Kaiāwhina, supporting people | tāngata with complex, high-risk care needs. We are seeking experience supporting people | tāngata with disabilities and spinal injuries.

You will provide safe, respectful, and person‑centred support in people’s homes, while also guiding your team to deliver care that reflects what matters most to each individual—their culture, values, beliefs, routines, and boundaries.

You will work in partnership with coordination and clinical teams to ensure care delivery is safe, consistent, and aligned with individual support plans, while also supporting workforce development and capability growth across your team.

Whakangungu | Training

We provide practical and online training during the first few weeks of employment.

With the added benefit of year-round training, you will be supported through:

  • Structured induction and onboarding
  • Leadership and coaching development
  • Ongoing training, refreshers, and development modules
  • Support from experienced leaders and clinical teams
Mōhou Ake | About You

The following skills and experience may be required depending on the specific client needs you and your team support:
  • Hold a Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification or have equivalent, relevant experience
  • Strong experience in the healthcare or community sector
  • Confidence supporting, mentoring, or guiding others in care delivery
  • Experience supporting complex care needs such as:
  • Spinal injury
  • Stoma management
  • Hoist use (full, standing, and two-person)
  • Medication administration
  • Ability to balance hands-on support work with leadership responsibilities
  • Love working with people and helping them thrive
  • Willingness to learn, reflect, and adapt your approach to individual needs
  • Committed to culturally safe, respectful support for people from all backgrounds
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Organised, proactive, and responsive to both people and team needs
  • Own a smartphone
  • Full/restricted driver’s licence
  • Right to work in New Zealand
