Full job description

Become the storyteller of Te Anau's magical Glowworm Caves.

In this unforgettable role, you'll lead guests through some of New Zealand's most awe-inspiring landscapes, weaving together fascinating tales of native flora, fauna, and geology. Your passion and knowledge will bring the natural world to life, turning every tour into a journey of discovery.

From guiding groups safely through scenic wonders to delivering captivating commentary, you'll be the heart of the experience. You'll greet guests with warmth, ensure every moment is memorable, and send them off with a smile. Behind the scenes, you'll help maintain pristine service areas and uphold the highest safety standards - making smart calls on conditions like high water and supporting risk planning with confidence.

If you thrive outdoors, love sharing stories, and want to inspire others with the beauty of Aotearoa, this is your chance to make a real impact.

This is a fixed-term opportunity running through to the end of summer in April 2026.

What do you get out of this?

  • Full time work with guaranteed hours
  • Enjoy some incredible staff perks! Bring a friend along to experience RealNZ's unforgettable adventures, either for free or at a fantastic discount. Explore Rakiura, raft the Shotover and Kawarau rivers, cruise Milford and Doubtful Sound, and dine at Walter Peak. It's an amazing opportunity to experience the best of New Zealand without breaking the bank!

What are we looking for in you?

  • Current First Aid certificate preferred
  • Experience in Cave Guiding, Nature Guiding, or a similar field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a positive, proactive approach.
  • Enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and able to engage diverse groups of guests.

If you're ready to inspire visitors with your passion for New Zealand's natural wonders and have the experience to provide a safe, engaging experience, we'd love to hear from you!

Real people, real places, real experiences. Welcome to Real.

When's the best time to join the Real whānau? Now's good.

We're the conservation business that's enabled by tourism. We're helping the world, one guest at a time, fall in love with conservation. We're inspiring people to leave their places in better conditions than when they found them. We channel a guest-centric approach that fuels our genuine promise to deliver Aotearoa's most unforgettable experiences.

It's our workplace environment that makes careers at RealNZ more exciting than the regular job. Working for Real could mean you're based anywhere between a secluded island, a scenic fiord, and a snow-capped maunga. Our people, places, and workdays are a great and diverse mixture. It keeps us on our toes and adds value and passion to our work.

At RealNZ, we're committed to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Guided by our values of Pono (Keep it real) and He waka eke noa (We're all in this together), we embrace and celebrate the unique perspectives and experiences that make our team stronger. Everyone is welcome here.
