Anatomic Pathology Service (APS), part of Te Whatu Ora, is an IANZ accredited facility which provides specialist diagnostic histology and cytology services to Auckland and beyond. We process specimens referred by more than 4,000 private specialists, surgical hospitals, and general practitioners across Auckland. To support this breadth of work, our Consultant Pathologists collaborate closely with our experienced team of scientists, technicians and administration staff to deliver high-quality, timely results for patients and clinicians.

About the role

We are seeking a Medical Secretary to join our Histology administration team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality services for APS patients and referrers.

We currently have 2 available positions available - a full-time, permanent position, and a full-time, fixed term (for 3 months) position.

The primary purpose of the role is to provide an efficient secretarial and transcription support service to medical and scientific staff and provide administrative and customer service assistance to the Anatomic Pathology Service, Mt Wellington

About you

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Level 1 NCEA in English or similar
  • Good knowledge of Medical terminology and proficiency in English language.
  • Demonstrable Dictaphone and typing skills (60wpm corrected)
  • Proficiency in all aspects of MS Office
  • Good numeracy skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
