About the Role

Location: Neilson Street, Auckland

Fulltime permanent position

Hours: Mon–Fri 7am–5pm + Sat 7am–12pm with a minimum of 40 hours per week

What You’ll Do

As a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic, you will service and repair our trucks, container handlers, and plant machinery at our busy Neilson depot.

  • Diagnosing faults in diesel engines, hydraulic, and electrical faults and related components.
  • Repairing and replacing worn or defective parts.
  • Conduct routine servicing and maintenance.
  • Testing and adjusting engines after repair.
  • Maintaining service records and job documentation.
  • Working on trucks, heavy vehicles, plant, or agricultural machinery.
  • Service and repair heavy machinery
  • Support apprentices and drivers
  • Join a rotating 24/7 on‑call roster

What You Need

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Relevant Level 4 qualification in Heavy Automotive (or equivalent) OR
  • At least 3 years relevant diesel mechanic experience with heavy machinery & hydraulics
  • Ability diagnose, repair, service and maintain diesel engines and heavy equipment.
  • Welding qualification (preferred but not essential)
  • Full, clean NZ licence
  • Safe, reliable, team‑focused approach
  • Versatility across depot worksites

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong motivation and initiative, excellent communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities. They will be technologically savvy, confident using a range of computer systems and digital tools, and able to adapt to new technologies. They will work collaboratively within a team environment, perform effectively under pressure, share knowledge and support others, and maintain a strong commitment to delivering high-quality customer service.
