M ō te T ūranga | About the Role
As Bar & Waitstaff - we call them Hospitality Ambassadors , you’ll play a key role in delivering outstanding food and beverage service across our Main Gaming Floor and Functions, ensuring every customer enjoys a seamless, friendly and memorable experience. While these areas are your primary focus, you may also support other SkyCity outlets when required.
Reporting to the Duty Manager, this role is hands‑on, fast‑paced and customer‑focused, with a strong emphasis on service excellence, teamwork and host responsibility. This is a Casual/On-call opportunity, with no fixed hours. Preference will be given to applicants who are flexible in their availability, particularly around Friday and Saturday nights.
Key responsibilities include:
Delivering prompt, efficient and welcoming food and beverage service
Creating positive customer experiences and responding professionally to enquiries or concerns
Providing accurate information about SkyCity Hamilton facilities, promotions and events
Supporting bar, food running, wait service and functions set‑up/pack‑down
Maintaining hygiene, presentation and service standards at all times
Accurately processing POS transactions and handling cash
Actively contributing to team communication and continuous improvement initiatives

M ōu | About You
You’re passionate about hospitality and take pride in delivering exceptional customer service, even in a high‑energy environment. You’re approachable, reliable and enjoy working as part of a close‑knit team. You will need to be aged 20 years or over due to licensing requirements.
We’re looking for someone who brings:
Proven customer service experience in hospitality
Experience working in a fast‑paced environment
Availability to work night shifts (up to 6.00am finishes)
Alcohol service experience and a strong understanding of host responsibility
Safe food handling, plate carrying and tray service skills
Cash handling and POS experience
Excellent personal presentation and hygiene awareness
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
Knowledge of wines and spirits, with the ability to recommend options to customers
Mixology experience
Understanding of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012
