Position Title: Fast Food Cook
Employer: Ostend Pizzeria

Reports To: Restaurant Manager

Position Summary

Ostend Pizzeria is seeking a dedicated and reliable Fast Food Cook to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking pizzas, kebabs, wraps, biryani, rice meals, sides, desserts, and other takeaway menu items while ensuring high standards of food quality, customer service, hygiene, and food safety.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation and Cooking

  • Prepare, cook, and present pizzas according to company recipes and quality standards.
  • Prepare and cook chicken, lamb, falafel, and mixed kebabs, including wraps, rice meals, chips, wedges, and salad combinations.
  • Prepare biryani, snack boxes, garlic bread, baked chips, curly fries, chicken nuggets, broccoli bites, jalapeño bites, and other side dishes.
  • Prepare fresh ingredients including vegetables, meats, cheeses, sauces, pizza dough, and toppings.
  • Portion food accurately and ensure consistent presentation.
  • Assemble takeaway and dine-in orders accurately and efficiently.

Kitchen Operations

  • Operate pizza ovens, kebab rotisserie machines, grills, fryers, and other commercial kitchen equipment safely.
  • Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is cooked correctly.
  • Prepare ingredients before service to ensure efficient operation during busy periods.
  • Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures.
  • Ensure customer orders are completed accurately and within expected service times.

Food Safety and Hygiene

  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen at all times.
  • Comply with the Food Act 2014, Food Control Plan, and New Zealand food safety regulations.
  • Follow correct food storage, labelling, and stock rotation procedures (FIFO).
  • Clean kitchen equipment, benches, utensils, and food preparation areas after use.
  • Minimise food waste through proper storage and portion control.

Stock Control

  • Receive, check, and store food deliveries.
  • Monitor ingredient levels and report shortages to the Restaurant Manager.
  • Assist with stocktakes and inventory control.
  • Ensure ingredients are prepared and available for daily service.

Teamwork and Customer Service

  • Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure efficient service.
  • Maintain clear communication during busy service periods.
  • Assist other team members as required.
  • Contribute to providing customers with high-quality food and excellent service.

Pay: $28.00 – $32.00 per hour
