The Bakery Queenstown

The Bakery Queenstown is a busy artisan bakery renowned for producing fresh pies, pastries, muffins, croissants, slices, and other baked goods every day. We are looking for a reliable and passionate Baker to join our friendly team.

Position

• Permanent, Full-Time
• Guaranteed minimum 30 hours per week (typically 37–45 hours)
• Early morning starts, including weekends and public holidays on a rostered basis
• Hourly Rate: NZ$27.00–NZ$30.00, depending on skills and experience

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pies, pastries, muffins, croissants, slices, and other baked products.
• Prepare doughs, batters, pastry, and fillings according to recipes and quality standards.
• Monitor proofing, baking times, temperatures, and product quality.
• Decorate and finish bakery products where required.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic work environment.
• Follow all Food Control Plan and food safety procedures.
• Operate bakery equipment safely and efficiently.
• Work closely with the bakery team to meet daily production schedules.

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will have:

• At least 2 years' commercial baking experience in a bakery, café, or similar food production environment, or a relevant baking qualification (Level 4 or equivalent).
• Experience preparing and baking a range of bakery products.
• Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
