Health Care Assistant | Presbyterian Support New Zealand

Presbyterian Support New Zealand is seeking compassionate and dedicated Health Care Assistants to provide high-quality care and support to older adults in our aged-care homes, retirement villages, and community care services across New Zealand.
This rewarding role focuses on helping people maintain their dignity, independence, wellbeing, and quality of life while working as part of a supportive healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist residents with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene
Support residents with eating, drinking, mobility, and daily living activities
Encourage independence and participation in social and recreational activities
Observe and report changes in residents' health and wellbeing
Assist nurses in delivering person-centred care plans
Provide companionship, emotional support, and reassurance to residents
Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment
Accurately record care information and follow health and safety procedures
Skills & Experience:
New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2–4), or willingness to obtain one
Previous experience in aged care, healthcare, disability support, or community care is desirable
Compassionate, patient, and caring approach
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Understanding of resident dignity, privacy, and person-centred care
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays
