Full job description

High Performance Coaching Consultant – Auckland

Coaching is a top priority for High Performance Sport New Zealand. With a relatively small national coaching talent pool, our support is essential to help coaches accelerate their development and performance. We work in partnership with National Sport Organisations (NSOs) to ensure coaches have the skills, leadership and environments they need to help athletes perform at the highest level.

We are seeking two High Performance Coaching Consultants (HPCC) to join our HP Coaching Team. Reporting to the Head of HP Coaching, you will work with NSOs primarily based in Auckland to identify, develop and support the next generation of high performance coaches. This includes contributing to Olympic and Paralympic Podium programmes and supporting coaches and systems aligned to major Games campaigns. The role also contributes to our Women in High Performance Sport initiative (WHPS), with a focus on identifying and developing emerging female high performance coaches.

Key responsibilities

In this role you will:
Partner with assigned NSOs to strengthen coaching environments including plans, culture and systems
Support high performance coaches to define their performance and development priorities
Facilitate learning and development solutions that accelerate coach growth
Support coaches to strengthen their leadership capability and lead effective campaign planning and delivery
Contribute to the implementation of the High Performance Coaching Strategy and related programmes across the HP Coaching Team
Promote best practice in high performance coaching and help build a connected, high quality coaching system across Aotearoa

About you

You will bring:
Significant experience influencing and facilitating behavioural change in people or organisations
Experience in high performance sport as a coach, director or leader, or experience working with high achievers in a non-sport performance environment
A strong understanding of high performance coaching requirements, environments and best practice
The ability to build trusted relationships, challenge constructively and support long term development
A commitment to fostering belonging, learning and continuous improvement

Experience working with coaches in international or pinnacle event environments is an advantage.

These roles are Auckland based, although other HPSNZ locations may be considered.

Why join HPSNZ

This is an exciting time to join a world leading organisation that is focused on sustained success for New Zealand athletes and teams. You will be part of a committed and passionate team that values wellbeing, learning and collaboration. Your work will contribute directly to building the future of high performance coaching in Aotearoa.
