Caregiver / Healthcare Assistant – HealthCare NZ (New Zealand)

Job Description

As a Caregiver / Healthcare Assistant, you will provide personal care, daily living support, and companionship to elderly clients, individuals with disabilities, and people recovering from illness or injury.

Key Responsibilities

Personal Care Support

Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene

Support safe mobility, transfers, and movement within the home

Assist with toileting and continence care

Support feeding and hydration as required

Daily Living Assistance

Assist with light housekeeping and meal preparation

Support medication routines as delegated by healthcare professionals

Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable home environment

Encourage independence in daily activities

Client Wellbeing & Companionship

Provide emotional support and meaningful companionship

Engage clients in conversation and social interaction

Support participation in community and social activities

Observe and report changes in client wellbeing or behaviour

Health Monitoring & Reporting

Report health concerns promptly to nurses or care coordinators

Follow individualized care plans accurately

Document care activities in accordance with organisational requirements

Adhere to infection prevention and workplace health & safety standards

Professional Care Delivery

Work collaboratively with nurses, case managers, and family members

Maintain confidentiality, privacy, and professional standards at all times

Deliver culturally respectful, person-centred care

Skills & Requirements

Compassionate, patient, and caring nature

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to follow care plans and clinical instructions

Physically fit to assist with mobility and personal care tasks

Experience in aged care, disability support, or healthcare (preferred but not essential)

NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2–3) is an advantage

Ability to work flexible shifts including mornings, evenings, and weekends

Pay: From $4,800.00 per month
