Full job description

Come work at New Zealand’s best restaurant!

About Amisfield:

Situated on the shores of Lake Hayes with sweeping views of the surrounding mountains, Amisfield is an award-winning restaurant and organic winery, set across a breathtaking 5-hectare property in Queenstown, New Zealand.

Internationally celebrated for its unique expression of place, Amisfield has been named to the Extended List – World’s 50 Best Restaurants 2025, and ranked #3 on Food & Wine’s Top International Restaurant List. It has also been awarded 3 Hats by the Cuisine Good Food Awards for four consecutive years, and recognised with the World’s Best Dining Experience by The Best Chef Awards.

Amisfield’s culinary philosophy is rooted in storytelling, drawing on the landscapes, wild ingredients, and cultural narratives of Aotearoa. The experience is finished with curated wine pairings from our single-estate, organic vineyard nestled beneath the Pisa Range.

About the Role:

Just like our restaurant’s dishes, behind every cocktail there’s a story to tell, with recipes created on the bartenders quest to find a mixture with perfect balance of syrups, essences, liquors, and unique ingredients that characterize Central Otago. In this role you will be asked to:

  • Provide all of our customers with a knowledgeable, informative and memorable experience
  • Ensure the requested sequence of service is undertaken
  • Display professional and experienced bar skills, mixing excellent cocktails and drinks for our customers
  • Provide table talk on all cocktails
  • Ensure all cocktail ingredients are known and memorised as per tasting notes
  • Ensure all wines are known and memorised as per tasting notes
  • Deliver effective communication with the kitchen and floor team
  • Assist with planning and execution of events if requested
  • Act as an ambassador for Amisfield, maintaining the quality and brand positioning at all times

About You:

We are after a hospitality professional who is passionate about NZ beverage alongside NZ food & wine, and who has excellent bar experience, ideally including creativity.

  • Good knowledge of food, wine and beverage operations, styles, and service with ideally at least 1 years relevant experience.
  • Proven commitment to high standards of beverage service
  • A strong work ethic, reliable and trustworthy
  • Excellent time management and the ability to stay calm within a busy, demanding service
  • A current Duty Managers licence or the ability to obtain one would be an advantage

This is a fulltime, permanent role (min 30 hours per week). And there’s a barrel of additional benefits to working as part of this team – You won’t be fighting the traffic, there’s free parking on-site, healthcare cover, staff discounts on our products and services and the opportunity to progress in your career.

Applicants for this position should have NZ citizenship/residency or a NZ work visa with a minimum of 6 months validity.
