Full job description
An IT Support role in New Zealand focuses on helping businesses and users keep their computer systems, networks, and software running smoothly. It’s a common entry-to-mid level tech job found in companies, schools, government offices, and IT service providers.
Main Responsibilities
- Providing technical support to staff or customers (in person, phone, or remote)
- Troubleshooting hardware issues (PCs, laptops, printers, scanners)
- Fixing software problems (Windows, Microsoft 365, business applications)
- Setting up and maintaining user accounts, email, and access permissions
- Supporting networks and internet connectivity issues
- Installing updates, patches, and antivirus protection
- Logging issues in a ticketing system and following up until resolved
- Escalating complex issues to senior IT staff or specialists
Typical Requirements
- Basic knowledge of Windows/Mac operating systems
- Understanding of networking basics (Wi-Fi, LAN, routers)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office / Microsoft 365
- Problem-solving and communication skills
- IT certifications (optional but valued):
- CompTIA A+
- Microsoft Certified: Fundamentals
