  • Support critical technology services used across Parliament
  • Work across infrastructure, cloud platforms, networks and end-user technology
  • Join a values-led organisation supporting New Zealand's democracy

Te tīma | The team

Parliament IT provides the digital services, platforms and technology support that help Parliament operate effectively. We work in a unique environment where reliable, secure and customer-centred technology directly supports Members of Parliament, parliamentary agencies, our people and the public.

The team is focused on making it easy to work digitally without compromising security, building sustainable services that anticipate future needs, and organising our people, products and services around those we serve.

Mō te tūnga | About the role

We're looking for two IT Engineers to join our Technology Operations & Infrastructure team.

As an IT Engineer, you'll play a key role in delivering day-to-day operational support across a broad range of technology services, including end-user devices, networks, cloud platforms and on-premise infrastructure. You'll help ensure systems remain available, reliable and secure while providing excellent support to our customers.

Working alongside experienced engineers, service desk teams and technology specialists, you'll monitor, maintain and troubleshoot infrastructure, respond to incidents and service requests, and contribute to ongoing maintenance and improvement activities.

This is a hands-on technical role offering variety, challenge and the opportunity to work across a diverse technology environment. No two days are the same, and you'll have the chance to build your technical skills while supporting services that are critical to the operation of Parliament.

Tō kete | What you will bring to the role

We're looking for collaborative and customer-focused technology professionals who enjoy solving problems and helping others succeed.

You'll have experience supporting IT systems, infrastructure and end-user services within a busy operational environment. You'll be comfortable troubleshooting issues, working across competing priorities and partnering with colleagues to deliver great customer outcomes.

Just as importantly, you'll bring a positive attitude, strong communication skills and a genuine willingness to be part of a supportive team culture. We're looking for people who are proactive, curious, organised and able to manage their time effectively.

To be successful you'll demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting IT infrastructure, systems and end-user services
  • Experience monitoring, maintaining and troubleshooting technology environments
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills across physical, virtual or cloud-based platforms
  • Experience responding to incidents and service requests within agreed service levels
  • An understanding of security, change and risk management processes
  • Strong customer service skills and a collaborative approach to resolving issues
  • The ability to document configurations, procedures and technical information clearly
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Good self-management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands

Experience with cloud platforms, infrastructure technologies, scripting, automation, ITIL practices or vendor technologies would be advantageous.

Relevant qualifications, certifications or equivalent practical experience will also be highly regarded.

Ka riro i a koe | What you'll gain

This is an opportunity to build your career in a unique technology environment that supports New Zealand's democracy.

You'll join a collaborative team of experienced technology professionals who are passionate about delivering great services and supporting each other's growth. You'll gain exposure to a broad range of technologies, work alongside internal specialists and external vendors, and contribute to services that have real impact across Parliament.

Whether you're looking to deepen your infrastructure experience, expand your cloud knowledge or grow your technical capabilities across multiple domains, this role provides plenty of opportunity to learn, develop and progress.

If you enjoy variety, teamwork and solving real-world technology challenges, you'll find this role rewarding and engaging.

Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou | What's in it for you?

We offer a range of benefits including access to an on-site gym and pool, learning and development opportunities and flexible working arrangements.
