Mehar hospitality Limited T/A Chaahat Restaurant is well known and popular Indian Cuisine restaurant in Auckland region.

We are actively seeking experienced Chef/s who has at least 3 years of relevant experience to join our restaurant.

Location/ Place of work – Rothesay Bay

Wage/Salary- $27-$30 per hour

Job Type – Permanent Full Time

Position – Chef X 1

Hours of work - Minimum 30 hours per week

TASKS:

Plan and develop menu items, specials, and seasonal offerings, figuring out how much food and staff will be needed, and ordering ingredients.

Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards, maintaining consistency in flavour, texture, and presentation

Coordinate with kitchen staff to efficiently manage food preparation and cooking times.

May demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff, and train other kitchen staff when required.

Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that relevant health codes, food handling practices and the food control plan requirements met.

Maintain kitchen and storage areas in a clean, hygienic and organized manner in compliance with relevant Safe food handling practices and the food control plan.

Prepare food that meets specific dietary requirements when requested.

Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, portion control, and inventory management

Monitor stock levels, manage ingredient orders, and reduce waste by optimizing ingredient usage.

Work closely with kitchen staff, managing kitchen workflow and ensuring smooth coordination during service.

Adapt dishes based on customer feedback and preferences, ensuring satisfaction and maintaining the restaurant’s reputation for quality.

SKILLS REQUIREMENT:

At least three years of relevant experience in a multicuisine establishment.

Specialisation in Indian cuisine is desirable

Candidates must be New Zealand Citizen or Resident.

CANDIDATES WILL NEED TO WORK:

1. Monday to Sunday Rotating roster, including weekends

2. Must be Available for Long weekends, School holidays, all stat days and ready to do Split Shifts

3. Must have good health and clean character record
