Cook – Indian Cuisine (2 positions)

AUCKLAND INDIAN SWEETS AND SNACKS LIMITED Full-time, permanent

About us

We are a leading maker of Indian sweets and snacks in New Zealand, operating a busy store and catering kitchen in Otahuhu, Auckland. We have two full-time permanent positions available for experienced cooks, for immediate start. Flexibility is a key requirement of the roles and please read the work details below.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Preparing and cooking vegetarian Indian food dishes to recipe and quality standards
  • Washing, cutting, weighing and preparing raw ingredients for menu items
  • Cooking, portioning and presenting food for customer orders, catering orders and function bookings
  • Checking the quality of ingredients and finished food
  • Storing food in temperature-controlled facilities and cooking to the required temperatures
  • Cleaning and maintaining kitchen equipment and work areas in line with food safety and hygiene requirements
  • Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering ingredients and supplies
  • Assisting with planning and developing menu items

Minimum requirements

  • At least two years’ experience as a cook preparing Indian cuisine, or a relevant cookery qualification at level 4 in the NZ register or a higher qualification
  • Able to work rostered shifts, including early mornings and weekends as required.
  • Experience cooking Indo-Fijian dishes is an advantage but is not essential.

Pay and conditions

· Minimum hourly rate: $30 per hour

· Maximum Hourly rate: $40 per hour

· Minimum hours: 30 hours per week

· Maximum hours: 50 hours per week

· Monday to Sunday - Shifts to be determined as per roster

· Must be willing to start early in the mornings
