Full job description

SG1313 Limited is looking for skilled Indian Chefs for our exciting Indian restaurant based in Wellington. We offer a diverse menu featuring traditional Punjabi dishes prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic spices. Our menu focuses on high-quality Indian curries dishes, including a variety of meats, seafood, and vegetarian options.

The job responsibilities for an Indian Chef will be as per below:

  • Work with management to design and regularly update the restaurant menu, incorporating new dishes and revising existing ones based on customer feedback and preferences.
  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes, ensuring all recipes are followed accurately to maintain consistency and quality
  • Ensure and monitor the quality of dishes throughout the preparation and presentation stages, adhering to the restaurant’s standards.
  • Oversee food costs and inventory, ensuring resources are used efficiently and waste is minimized.
  • Ensure that food is accurately portioned and presented in an appealing manner.
  • Assign tasks to kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and high-quality output.
  • Uphold strict standards for food storage, ensuring proper rotation, quality maintenance, and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Regularly check and adjust the temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Communicate effectively with management regarding any issues or concerns related to food preparation or kitchen operations, ensuring swift resolution and smooth workflow.

Required to work for a minimum of 30 hours per week and you will be paid between $27 to $35 per hour based on your skills and experience.

  • Minimum of 1 year of proven work experience or a relevant qualification level 4 or above
  • Available to work on weekends
  • Available to work for late evening shifts
  • Physically fit to stand for longer hours
