We invite you to apply for this full-time position of Vascular Laboratory Technician in the Otago Vascular Diagnostics Unit within the Section of Surgery.
About our team/Mō te tīma
We are a team of vascular surgeons, technologists and research staff using various diagnostic investigations to research the causes and management of vascular conditions.
Our unit provides clinical diagnostic services to the Te Whatu Ora - Southern, and to the wider community, to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases.
The unit is also part of the Vascular Research Group and works closely with other research groups at local, national and international levels.
The role/Te mahi
In this role you will join a multidisciplinary focused clinical research team investigating vascular disease.
This position involves working within a fun team of vascular technicians and sonographers in assessing patients with vascular disease, using physiological techniques and ultrasound. Assessments are carried out for the purpose of both clinical patient care and research.
The successful applicant would be supported through a two-year post-graduate training programme to learn the specific techniques alongside assisting in the general tasks of the Assessment Unit.
Skills and experience/Kā pūkeka me kā wheako
Depending on the qualification of the successful candidate, the intention of the role is to study towards a Vascular Ultrasound qualification and/or a research qualification.

This is a fixed term, full time (37.5 hours per week) position, based in Dunedin, commencing in October 2026 to facilitate introduction to the role and the training pathway.
The duration of the training programme is 2 years and commences in February/ March 2027. The position is structured to include 2 years post-qualification if applicable.
You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this role.
The appointment range for this role is $63,508 to $68,185, Top of Range $73,640 per annum. If part-time, the salary range for this role will be the pro-rata equivalent of the annual full-time salary range listed.
