Full job description
Well established Asahi Japanese Restaurant in Orewa is looking for a Chef experiended in Japanese cuisine
Current vacant position: CDP for Hot Food Section x 1
This is a full time, permanent position with guaranteed weekly working hours of 30 hours. We will offer the wage from $28.00 - $32.00 per hour based on your experiences and skills.
No formal cooking qualification is required for this position but previous relevant experience is essential.
- Must have at least 3-4 years of work experience in a commercial kitchen including a minimum 2 years of work experience in Japanese and/or Korean cuisine
- Cookery training at Level 4 or higher is an advantage but not mandatory
- Good knowledge and skills in cooking Japanese/Korean cuisine, sauces, and food ingredients
- Having a good knowledge of handling seafood and Asian ingredients
- Ability to make foods on time
- Ability to work under pressure without supervision
- Good kitchen management and time organization skills under pressure including stocktaking and placing order
- Good communicator
- Ability to lead a team with strong team spirit including training
- Innovative ideas and enthusiasm for food
- Flexibility on working hours/ability to work shifts, weekends, and late night
- High standard of knowledge of food hygiene and safety
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Managing day to day operation of Hot Food Section
- Preparing the highest quality of foods and standard of services to ensure the customers’ satisfaction
- Preparing food items
- Menu planning and costing in association with other chefs
- Monitoring the quality of raw and cooked food products to restaurant standards
- Ordering and storing
- Food Control Plan knowledge
- Enforcing food hygiene, health and safety including cleaning schedules
- Training and demonstrating techniques to junior kitchen staff
- Managing food storage and preservation
