Full job description

MercyAscot Hospitals is one of New Zealand’s largest private surgical hospital groups based in Auckland, providing a wide range of specialist surgical and medical services across multiple hospital sites including Mercy and Ascot hospitals.

A Sterilising Unit Technician (also called a CSSD Technician or Sterile Services Technician) works in hospitals and clinics to clean, disinfect, sterilise, package, and distribute surgical instruments and medical equipment. Their role is critical for infection control and patient safety.

Typical job description

A Sterilising Unit Technician may:

Clean and disinfect surgical instruments and medical devices

Operate sterilising equipment such as autoclaves and washer disinfectors

Inspect instruments for cleanliness and damage

Assemble and package surgical trays for operations

Label and track sterile equipment

Maintain records and follow infection-control procedures

Deliver sterile supplies to theatres, wards, and clinics

Follow strict health and safety standards

Pay: $6,000.00 – $8,100.00 per month
