About the Role
We welcome applications from Genetic Pathologists, Clinical Scientists (Genomics) and newly qualified Fellows to join our expanding Diagnostic Genetics team. As the largest hospital-based genomics service in Aotearoa New Zealand, we are building capacity across germline and somatic genomics, and offer multiple pathways for applicants at different stages of practice. The preferred candidate will be highly motivated, innovative, adaptable and responsive to the changing demands and opportunities in genomics. We are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
The overall aim of this role is to enhance health outcomes for people in the Auckland region through clinical and laboratory practice, teaching, supervision, research, service and leadership.

Opportunity to be part of the Auckland Academic Health Alliance; a partnership between Metropolitan Auckland District Health Boards and the University of Auckland
The Diagnostic Genetics department has established links with the University of Auckland and there will be an opportunity to be involved in research and teaching.
For Genetic Pathologist or Fellows also interested in an academic role with the University of Auckland, a 0.4 FTE position at the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences will be advertised in parallel.

About you
Genetic Pathologist
You will need to be a medical doctor with post-graduate specialist qualification in Pathology and eligible for vocational registration with Medical Council of New Zealand as a Pathologist to apply for this role.

The ideal candidate for this role will have trained in Genetic Pathology but enquiries are welcome from individuals from those who meet the eligibility criteria with other genetic pathology experience.
Clinical Scientists (Genomics)
Applicants who are registered Clinical Scientists with FFSc (RCPA) or FRCPath (or equivalent) qualifications in genetics/genomics/molecular pathology.
Fellows
Applications from newly qualified fellows who are medical doctors who have undertaken post graduate training in Genetic Pathology are encouraged, as are enquiries for Fellowships for those wishing to undertake additional postgraduate experience.
