About the Role

As a Medical Laboratory Technician within the Microbiology Department, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality laboratory services that contribute directly to patient diagnosis and care. Working in a busy and dynamic laboratory environment, you will perform laboratory procedures, process specimens, maintain equipment, and assist the wider technical team to ensure accurate and timely results.

Our Microbiology Department provides vital diagnostic services that support clinicians and healthcare teams across Hawke's Bay. We are a collaborative team committed to delivering accurate, reliable, and timely laboratory services while maintaining the highest professional and quality standards.

About you

As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will bring:

Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
A keen interest in science and laboratory practice.
Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow protocols and procedures accurately.
A positive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Desirable:

Previous medical laboratory experience.
Computer and data entry experience.
Knowledge of the wider health sector and laboratory environments.
