- Permanent, Part Time, 64 hours per fortnight (0.8 FTE)

About the Role
As a Preanalytical Laboratory Technician / Phlebotomist, you will play an essential role in supporting the delivery of high quality laboratory services to the Wairoa community. You will be responsible for collecting, receiving, processing, and preparing patient samples, undertaking phlebotomy duties, performing point of care testing, and ensuring specimens are managed accurately and efficiently in line with laboratory standards and protocols.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with a keen interest in healthcare and science who enjoys working directly with patients. You'll be part of a professional laboratory team committed to quality, accuracy, and excellent service, while contributing to timely diagnoses and positive patient outcomes.

About the Team/Service/ Location
Our Laboratory Service provides vital diagnostic support to healthcare services across Hawke's Bay. Working from Wairoa Hospital, you will be part of a close knit team that delivers essential laboratory and phlebotomy services to the local community while maintaining strong links with the wider Hawke's Bay Laboratory network.

About you
As a Preanalytical Laboratory Technician / Phlebotomist, you will bring:
- Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand, or be working towards registration.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow laboratory protocols accurately.
- Good computer and data entry skills.
- A positive attitude, problem-solving mindset, and commitment to delivering high-quality service.
Desirable:
- Previous medical laboratory or phlebotomy experience.
- Experience with specimen collection and processing.
- Knowledge of healthcare systems and laboratory environments.
