About the Role
This position is in the Newborn Screening section of the Specialist Chemical Pathology department. The department encompasses Special Biochemistry, Endocrinology, Trace Metals and Chromatography and provides laboratory services for 3 national programmes (Bowel Screening, Newborn Screening and Antenatal Screening).
Whilst this role is based primarily in the Newborn Screening area there may also be a requirement to work in other sections of the department. Primary tasks for the role will include pre-analytical sorting and checking of cards, punching of cards, analytical work and general admin work.
The position is full time, Monday to Sunday.

About the Team/Service/ Location
We are Te Whatu Ora Te Toka Tumai Auckland. We provide health and disability services to more than half a million people living in central Auckland, regional services for Northland and greater Auckland, and specialist national services for the whole of New Zealand. Our main sites are Auckland City Hospital, Greenlane Clinical Centre and Starship Childrens Hospital, located in central Auckland.

About you
The section is busy with strict turnaround time and quality requirements. Applicants will need to possess excellent organisational, computer and communication skills and be flexible with working hours. The role requires a person with a skillset including attention to detail, good time management, accuracy and the ability to work as part of a team. Experience with both automated and manual methodologies including immunoassay would be advantageous. You must have a current annual practicing certificate and be registered as a Medical Laboratory Technician with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand. For details, visit www.mscouncil.org.nz
