Te Mahi/About the Position

The Nurse Maude Hospice Palliative Care Service provides specialised care and support for patients who have a life limiting illness using a multidisciplinary approach. Care is centred on the needs of patients and their families/whānau and embraces the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual elements of wellbeing - tinana, whanau, hinengaro and wairua – and aims to enhance quality of life.

We are seeking a General Practitioner (GP) with an interest in specialist palliative care to work in the Nurse Maude Hospice Inpatient Unit as a medical officer on a casual basis starting November 2026.

As part of this casual role, the successful candidate will be required to participate in the on-call roster, including one weekend (from Friday evening to Monday morning) approximately every five to six weeks. There may also be the opportunity or requirement to provide weeknight on-call cover and additional on-call cover from time to time to support operational needs.
