Are you a Medical Officer, or equivalent, with an interest in oncology?
This is an exciting opportunity to grow your oncology skills and experience while making a meaningful difference for people receiving cancer treatment across the Northern Region.
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi and committed to building a health system that serves all New Zealanders. Through Te Pūriri o Te Ora Regional Cancer and Blood Service, we are focused on delivering equitable, high-quality cancer care closer to the communities where people live.
Across Auckland, Counties Manukau and the wider Northern Region, our teams work together to bring specialist cancer care closer to the communities we serve. Guided by the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, respect, kindness, and a shared commitment to equity, we strive to create a healthcare system where every person is valued, every voice is heard, and everyone has access to the care they need.
About the Role
Te Pūriri o Te Ora is the largest cancer and blood service in Aotearoa, providing care for approximately 40% of New Zealand's population. As part of an exciting regional transformation, we are expanding oncology services beyond tertiary centres into community and local hospital settings.

In this role you will:
- Provide clinical care and medical oversight for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT) in local delivery oncology units across the region.
- Work collaboratively with Te Pūriri o Te Ora Medical Oncology teams, oncology nursing staff, Counties Manukau clinicians and community providers.
- Undertake clinical assessment, diagnosis, prescribing and treatment planning within established protocols.
- Support the management and escalation of acute and emergent oncology presentations.
- Contribute to service development and the design of innovative regional models of care.
- Partner with patients, whānau and communities to deliver person-centred, equitable healthcare.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new model of oncology care that improves access and outcomes for patients across the Northern Region.
