Full job description
E pā ana ki a SkyCity | About SkyCity
Are you someone who can spot red flags early, unravel complex behavioural patterns, and stay cool under the pressure of a fast‑paced workload?
Our Financial Crime Operations team is on the hunt for a Financial Crime Analyst to join our high‑performing, supportive crew. In this role, you’ll gain end‑to‑end exposure to our financial‑crime processes—from alert generation and initial triage to detailed case investigations and potential reporting to the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
We’re looking for people who want to make a real impact in keeping our business, customers, and community safe—while balancing the seriousness of the work with a positive attitude and strong teamwork.
At SkyCity, we’re passionate about safeguarding our business and customers from financial crime and mitigating risks such as money laundering, terrorism financing, and bribery & corruption. The work is high‑stakes, but we believe in working hard and bringing the fun, energy, and camaraderie that keep us going.
If you’re a sharp thinker who thrives in an upbeat, team‑focused environment, we want YOU on our team.
Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
- 18 month fixed term position
- Carry out customer due diligence (CDD) procedures thoroughly and efficiently.
- Use your eye for detail to analyse and investigate customer data, uncovering anomalies, unusual patterns, or potential risks.
- Review customer interactions and confidently provide well‑reasoned recommendations on appropriate next steps.
- Prepare high‑quality, accurate, and comprehensive investigation findings that support effective decision‑making.
- Provide clear, practical advice to stakeholders on AML/CFT‑related matters.
- Take ownership of all assigned work and conduct well documented end‑to‑end investigations from initial review through to case closure or submission.
- Ensure strong alignment with AML/CFT requirements, including internal policies and operational procedures.
- Be open to feedback, using QA results and management insights as opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Demonstrate well‑rounded capability and a willingness to work across all Financial Crime Operations processes.
- Promote a culture of learning by actively participating in team stand‑ups, sharing interesting cases in triage meetings, and seeking support or guidance as or when needed.
Mōu | About You
- You’re naturally curious — you ask thoughtful questions that help you learn fast, uncover insights, and work more efficiently.
- You bring sharp investigation skills and a knack for cracking problems others might miss
- You communicate clearly and confidently, whether you’re writing up findings or collaborating with stakeholders.
- You’re organised, adaptable, and comfortable juggling competing priorities while keeping deadlines firmly on track.
- You’re a proactive problem‑solver with a sharp eye for detail and a strong sense of urgency when it counts.
- You show up with a positive mindset, eagerness to grow, and a strong can‑do attitude.
- Experience in financial crime is a bonus — but your drive to learn, contribute positively, and be part of a high‑performing team matters just as much.
- Knowledge of AML/CFT obligations is highly desirable and will help you hit the ground running.
- You role‑model the SkyCity values every day — Stronger Together, Light Up Every Moment, Better Never Stops, and People at Our Heart.
Success in this role comes down to your ability to understand and articulate financial‑crime red flags, helping the business proactively manage its obligations and stay ahead of emerging risks. Your strength in breaking down complex financial‑crime concepts for a wide range of stakeholders will be a real advantage — because prevention and detection is a team effort, and everyone at SkyCity plays their part.
