About the Role

This varied and interesting role primarily involves processing samples for karyotyping and FISH analysis. You will work closely with a team of skilled scientists and pathologists to ensure accurate, high quality results are produced at all times.

Key responsibilities of the role:

Processing of various samples for cytogenetic analysis
Maintenance of laboratory equipment
Monitor and manage reagents and stock
Involvement in quality initiatives

About the Team/Service

Our busy medical diagnostic laboratory provides service to Waikato Hospital as well as surrounding satellite hospitals and community based services. Our Cytogenetics department provides a constitutional and acquired diagnostic genetics service including postnatal, FISH/FFPE and haematological testing.

Waikato Hospital is a major regional hospital in Hamilton and is a leading tertiary teaching hospital located in Hamilton, New Zealand, serving as the regional hub for the Midland area, which includes the Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Lakes, Tairawhiti, and Taranaki districts. Previous medical laboratory experience is desirable
Must be registered, or eligible for registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand
